PhotoFest 2013

Glazer's Camera is hosting their annual event PhotoFest next month on June 8th and 9th. This is PhotoFest's 4th year, and is an event full of sales, demos, and guest speakers. Glazer's Camera has invited their vendors to come set up and sell products ranging from cameras and lenses to audio and lighting. The products will be on display for you to test out during the event. In addition to vendors, the event will host workshops and speakers. Some workshops require RSVP notice before attending. The workshops include lessons on lighting, camera technique, and much more.

The event is located in Seattle in the South Lake Union Area.

How do you get more views on Flickr?

Many people wonder how to get more views on their photos. Getting the amount of views you want on your photos is not difficult. Here are some easy tips for you:
Picture
Flickr is one of the most popular websites for photosharing.
1. Add your photographs to groups.
After uploading your photographs, search for groups that relate to your photograph, and post it there. The key is to get your photo in as many groups as possible. When added to a group, a photo then has the potential to be viewed by many of the members of that group. Try to find groups with lots of members, and groups with recent uploads and discussions.

2. Add contacts.
When you add contacts, people see that you have added them and then they have the option to add you back. When you add them, usually they will check out your profile, and your photostream. Also, if they add you back, your images then are displayed to them immediately after upload. Try to get as many contacts as possible. Also, try to get people to add you back.

3. Comment
When you comment on a photo, the person who took the photo has the option to reply, this makes you more visible to other Flickr users. Try to comment as much as possible, but make sure to be positive.

4. Post on Forums
There are many different photography forums available  and are used by many people. Generally, there are sections within the forums for new photographs. Try to post every time you upload, then the people who view your work may follow the link to your photostream.

Extra Tip: The forums usually have extra space for people to talk about their new websites, this can help by getting traffic, and getting tips from other people on your website design.

5. Have Good Photographs
This may seem like an odd tip, but it really does help. People enjoy looking at quality work, therefore they are more likely to view your pictures if they are good. Try to upload only your top quality work.

Extra Tip: Try to shoot as often as possible so that you can have more quality pictures to work with.

Try to use all of these tips, and hopefully your photographs will begin to get more views!

Today I have uploaded new photographs to the website. The new photographs include images in both galleries (Dog Portraits, Ecuador 2011). You can find these pictures on my Flickr as I uploaded them there before the website. The images can be found on the portfolio page of this website.

These photographs cannot be found on my Razzi account.

I have added some new parts to the Bryan Smith Photography website. The biggest change you may see is the update of the portfolio section. In the update, I have added another gallery to the portfolio, I have also added gallery titles. The new gallery is "Ecuador 2011" and will feature photographs from my 2011 trip to Ecuador. In the near future i will add more galleries to the portfolio section and perhaps add a menu if it becomes too cluttered. The second change is to the blog. Located in the blog sidebar (on the right side of this page) are three advertisements. These are test advertisements, but they do work as links and I encourage you to click on them (I do not make money off of test advertisements). The test advertisements will change weekly, and advertisements will only be featured on the blog page. If you have any suggestions for the website, please feel free to send me an email using the contact form located on the "About" section of the website.

To find the changes please go to both the blog, and the portfolio.

Recently Flickr updated the look of the website, personally I am not a fan. As Flickr is not my favorite I have been searching for new websites to share photographs on. What I came up with was: this website, and Razzi.me. My website is for sharing my photographs and my work and updates, and I will use Razzi as a substitute for Flickr, photo-sharing with a community.  So far my first impressions of Razzi are positive. It looks like a combination of both the new Flickr and the old Flickr. One thing Razzi does not have that Flickr does is the large community. Therefore I will continue using both Razzi and Flickr, and will provide updates on how I like Razzi.

I have recently uploaded six images to Razzi, three to Flickr, and two to my website.
